Responsibilities: Chair of Governors
I became involved in the work of the school in 2016 when I was Chair of Friends of Marsh Park and Lawyers Field. Together we successfully applied for funding from Tesco's "Bags of Help" to develop a "Learning Zone" in the school grounds and a community garden in Lawyers Field.
The "Learning Zone" is flourishing. Last year children, staff and volunteers grew 423 potatoes (counted on the staff room floor), tomatoes, pumpkins (carved for Hallowe'en), lots of salad, herbs and flowers.
After a vote, the young gardeners chose the name "Brockmoor Bloomers" for their group. The school demonstrates an impressive determination to provide a safe and happy environment in which local primary school pupils are enabled to achieve their potential. This is an ethos which, as a member of the Governing Body, I fully support and will help to sustain.
